We often hold the idea that pushing, pulling and moving ‘against’ resistance has to be effortful and we have to work hard.  Want to learn minimum effort/maximum ease? At the foundation for improving your skill is learning to sense clearly how you create the movements of your life. In your body mind.

In these classes, we will explore Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (ATM)® lessons which allow you to learn to move in a more neutral and easy way. We will be deeply exploring the natural spiral movement in Nature and in our human form that allows us to push, pull and turn with ease, grace and natural embodied power!

Awareness Through Movement (ATM) explorations are powerful experiments in using a particular type of curious and non-judgmental noticing while moving.

This class series can be helpful for some of those gardening, house cleaning or other active spring tasks we often engage in and then overdo!

By learning to widen your focus and access your awareness, you can notice when changes are necessary and be able to increase your comfort, dynamic alignment, and efficiency. Explore the fun and highly novel movement pattens in Feldenkrais ATM’s!

This punch card is good for drop-in rates for either weekly Qi Gong or Feldenkrais ATM® classes.

Pay online and bring your emailed receipt to your first class to exchange for your punch card. Bring the punch card to each class and you can use for any combination of Qi Gong and/or Feldenkrais ATM®  classes. There is no expiration date for this punch card.

At it’s most simple level Qi Gong is a basic practice of following and staying present for the continuously unfolding and changing senses of life force energy as these changes move through you. We will be starting at the beginning in this Qi Gong class: Beginner’s mind.

Appropriate for those who have practiced Qi Gong, are practicing, and those who never have and/or want to begin. Beginner’s mind is always profound.

Qi Gong is an ancient system of self-healing consisting of gentle movement exercises that combine breath, slow movement, self-massage, and meditation to harmonize the body, mind and spirit. A dedicated practice can provide countless benefits including increasing calmness, reducing blood pressure, anxiety, musculoskeletal pain, regulating the neruoimmunological system and enhancing resilience,strength, balance and vitality.

You can drop in or attend regularly. We will start each class with some foundational basics and then slowly over this series continue to learn the Hui Gong for the Heart Qi Gong form. We started this form in the winter quarter and are continuing. You can join in easily. You do not have to have attended the winter classes.

This standing Qi Gong form is known as Wisdom Qi Gong. This form focuses on bringing the heartmind to tranquility by cleansing. It replaces the train of many thoughts with one thought by using the mind to guide the Qi through the five solid organ meridian systems.

The intent is to wake up the spiritual qualities within the five solid organ energetic systems–the Shen (desire/knowledge) in the Heart, the Hun (imagination) in the Liver, the Po (animal spirit) in the Lung, the Yi (intention) in the Spleen and the Zhi (Will) in the Kidney. These qualities are what make a human a full human.

Not only is a physiological potent awakened but this primary essence evokes the power of pre-immunity. In that way self-healing is created by balancing yin and yang energy.

This particular Qi Gong can help to re-establish emotional equilibrium and maintain a sense of well-being. No prior Qi Gong experience necessary. Optional study book $15.

Mondays, July 1, 8, 22, 29 Aug 5.  

6-7pm

Cost: $90 for 6-wk series/$20 drop-in

We will meet at the SW end of the lake near the blue crew stadium bleachers. The specific meeting place will be at the park bench that is just in front of the bathrooms.  The bench is closer to the road than the bathrooms. Please be on time as we will leave by 6:05pm to begin walking and you won’t know which direction we have gone.

Please bring a minimum of stuff to carry so you can do the class unencumbered. Please do not carry a purse or backpack if possible.

***These walking ATM® classes were the inspiration for my CD series The Walking Way: Stepping Into Awareness. Of course, you will be able to get a taste of the CD series by attending one or all of the series this year!

Embody grace, efficiency and ease with walking! Change your brain patterns for walking to efficiency and ease! We will explore some unique and fun ATM® lessons while walking at Green Lake Park.Each ATM will explore a different pattern of efficient and comfortable walking.

Awareness Through Movement (ATM) explorations are powerful experiments in using a particular type of curious and non-judgmental noticing while moving. This series is unique as all of the lessons are done while walking slowly in the summer evening light and air at Green Lake.

Walking is one of the most habitual activities we do as humans. These lessons will not only improve your ability to ground yourself more fully while walking and standing but also allow a fluid and graceful ease to unfold in how you walk through your life in general! Leaning to explore the subtle patterns within walking is powerful!

Being able to perceive some of the dynamic relationships that unfold in such a habitual activity creates many new choices. Our walking in this class will be in order to explore how it is we walk. We are not trying to walk for speed or to complete any particular distance.

You can benefit whether you come to the whole series or just drop-in for a couple of classes.This series is well loved and helpful for creating a sense of ease whether you walk a lot or a little in your life.

You will be able to use these ATM’s over and over again as you walk through your life!

We will meet at the South end of the lake at the park bench that is just to the north of the stadium bleachers. We will then walk a little to the SE on the walking trail into a grassy area directly next to the lake to begin our practice.

We will be starting at the beginning in this Qi Gong class: Beginner’s mind. Appropriate for those who have practiced Qi Gong, are practicing, and those who never have and/or want to begin.
