18th Annual Walking Feldenkrais ATM® Series

 

Mondays: Jul 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2020                                  6-7pm                             Cost: $72/4-wk series pre-paid/$20 drop-in

 

We will be meeting at the park bench in front of the bathrooms at the SW end of the lake near the stadium. Please be on time as we will leave by 6:05pm and you won’t know which direction we went if you are late. Please bring only what you need and I will carry items so you can walk unencumbered. 

 

***These walking ATM® classes were the inspiration for my CD series The Walking Way: Stepping Into Awareness. Of course, you will be able to get a taste of the CD series by attending one or all of the series this year!

Continues by Popular Demand! Embody grace, efficiency and ease with walking! Change your brain patterns for walking to efficiency and ease! We will explore some unique and fun ATM® lessons while walking at Green Lake Park. Even with Covid restrictions, we will be able to gather in a small group and stay spread apart appropriately at 6′ with everyone wearing a mask. 

Each ATM will explore a different pattern of efficient and comfortable walking. Awareness Through Movement (ATM) explorations are powerful experiments in using a particular type of curious and non-judgmental noticing while moving. This series is unique as all of the lessons are done while walking slowly in the summer evening light and air at Green Lake.

Walking is one of the most habitual activities we do as humans. These lessons will not only improve your ability to ground yourself more fully while walking and standing but also allow a fluid and graceful ease to unfold in how you walk through your life in general! Leaning to explore the subtle patterns within walking is powerful! Being able to perceive some of the dynamic relationships that unfold in such a habitual activity creates many new choices.

Our walking in this class will be in order to explore how it is we walk. We are not trying to walk for speed or to complete any particular distance. You can benefit whether you come to the whole series or just drop-in for a couple of classes.

This series is well loved and helpful for creating a sense of ease whether you walk a lot or a little in your life. You will be able to use these ATM’s over and over again as you walk through your life! Dress in comfortable walking shoes and bring an extra layer in case of weather.
