At it’s most simple level Qi Gong is a basic practice of following and staying present for the continuously unfolding and changing senses of life force energy as these changes move through you. We will be starting at the beginning in this Qi Gong class: Beginner’s mind. Appropriate for those who have practiced Qi Gong, are practicing, and those who never have and/or want to begin. Beginner’s mind is always profound.
Qi Gong is an ancient system of self-healing consisting of gentle movement exercises that combine breath, slow movement, self-massage, and meditation to harmonize the body, mind and spirit. A dedicated practice can provide countless benefits including increasing calmness, reducing blood pressure, anxiety, musculoskeletal pain, regulating the neruoimmunological system and enhancing resilience, strength, balance and vitality.
You can drop in or attend regularly. We will start each class with some foundational basics and then slowly over this series learn the Tai Ching Gong Qi Gong form.
This is an ancient and foundational Daoist Qi Gong form I learned when I was studying with Master Zhao Yuan Fu at Bai Yun Guan in Beijing. Bai Yun Guan means White Clouds Temple and is a monastery/temple on the west side of Beijing. Master Zhao is the head monk there and is one of my teachers. The photo is inside one of the temples where we practiced and he instructed me in two foundational Daoist forms each day I was there.
The overall intent of the Tai Ching Gong form is to cultivate and strengthen your natural internal Qi. This cultivation is foundational for harmonizing both health and spirit.
In Daoist and Chinese cosmology, spirit is known as Shen. When Shen meets the body or form (which is called Jing), then Qi is born. All ‘dis’-ease begins with a disturbance at the spirit level.
Utilizing some graceful fluid movements and some balance movements, Tai Ching Gong is a beautiful practice that anyone can do.
Learn how to embody the natural strength of your human system!
