We will be meeting at the wading pool across from the Chocolati Cafe at the north end of Green lake. From there we will walk to a lovely section of big trees east of there for our practice. Please be on time as we will leave soon after meeting to walk to the big trees.
At it’s most simple level Qi Gong is a basic practice of following and staying present for the continuously unfolding and changing senses of life force energy as these changes move through you. We will be starting at the beginning in this Qi Gong class: Beginner’s mind.
Appropriate for those who have practiced Qi Gong, are practicing, and those who never have and/or want to begin. Beginner’s mind is always profound.
Qi Gong is an ancient system of self-healing consisting of gentle movement exercise that combine breath, slow movement, self-massage, and meditation to harmonize the body, mind and spirit. A dedicated practice can provide countless benefits including increasing calmness, reducing blood pressure, anxiety, musculoskeletal pain, regulating the neuroimmunological system and enhancing resilience, strength, balance and vitality.
You can drop in or attend regularly. We will start each class with some foundational basics and then slowly over this series learn the Walking Qi Gong breathing/walking patterns for balancing and strengthening the main energetic channels.
These Walking Qi Gong movements involve a simple breathing and walking pattern for each of the solid organ energetic meridians (Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lung and Kidney). These meridians are also each correlated with one of the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water). In Chine you will see large groups of people doing these walking Qi Gong practices. This picture is from one of my trips to China where this group of women were doing Xi Xi Hu walking in a park.
When practiced regularly these walking Qi Gong movements create a very powerful strengthening of the immune system and are used specifically to treat and prevent cancer. Strengthening our immune system is one of the most profound benefits that occur s from regular Qi Gong practice in general. Doing these walking patterns outside in a group communing with large elder trees sets the conditions for these practices to land even more deeply within you.
No prior Qi Gong experience necessary This is a beautiful and powerful practice that anyone can do. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for being outside for the entirety of the class.
